The Last 24 Hours Before a Container Leaves
Key takeaways
- Final inspection and marking happen before packing, since that is the last cheap moment to catch a problem.
- Units go out on wooden pallets or skids, strapped and blocked, with wrapping on contact surfaces.
- Loading sequence is planned so the doors close safely and weight sits low and centred.
- You receive loading photographs with the packing list.
What happens after inspection
A finished unit only becomes a shipment after several unglamorous steps: identify it, protect it, place it, restrain it, photograph it. Nearly every transit claim we have ever seen traces back to one of those being rushed.
Once a unit passes final check it gets marked so that it can be counted against the packing list. Painted contact surfaces are wrapped, and bare machined surfaces — pin bores, bushing seats — receive rust protection, because sea air finds unprotected steel within days.
Units move onto wooden pallets or skids and are strapped and blocked so nothing shifts. Then loading begins, and this is where a plan matters: heavy items low and near the centreline, long pieces running lengthwise with support along the length, and nothing wedged in a way that will fight the door when it closes.
Documents that leave with it
| Document | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Packing list | Count and identification at destination |
| Shipping marks | Piece identification to match the list |
| Loading photographs | Evidence of condition and stowage before the doors close |
| Additional documents | Per your forwarder's or your compliance requirements |
We load at the plant, which means the people who built the parts also put them in the container. For a distributor receiving forty mixed units, that detail is worth more than any amount of reassurance over email.

FAQ
Do you ship FOB or CIF? Both can be arranged. We quote to the Incoterm you prefer, working with your forwarder or one we suggest.
Can we use our own forwarder? Yes. We will work to their booking and loading instructions.
What if part of the order is short? We tell you before loading, not after shipment. If a unit will not make the vessel we say so and offer options.
